"In his video work “Ego and Border” the artist, inspired by Žižek, tackles the issue of the body and space. Life is a chain of conflicts shaped by bodies and their boundaries. Thus, by approaching the ego and boundary as a phenomenon, he asserts that there is a kind of symptom. The underlying symptoms in his work show the philosophy of the video. On the other hand, with a Spinozian approach one can argue that passions may lead human beings even into slavery and in this leads in time to the individual's wish to break out this state of slavery. We can see that Mehmet Öğüt opens all facts such as body, boundary, ego, place and time into question as a puzzle of concepts."
